Brisbane Chamber Choir is committed to performing lesser known choral works to members of the wider community. In doing so, Brisbane Chamber Choir has performed and affiliated with a number of different organisations and performers for concerts in the past. Brisbane Chamber Choir performs regularly at the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist in Brisbane, both in our own concerts, and in our official capacity as the St John's Cathedral Chamber Choir. Other recent performances have been at St Stephen's Cathedral as part of their concert series, at Albert Street Uniting Church as part of Cathedral's Week, and at the Griffith University, Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Out of town concerts have included concerts in Toowoomba, Buderim, the Gold Coast and Ipswich.
Collaborations with the Lucian Singers (the liturgical choir at Christ Church Anglican Church, St Lucia), and with St Peters Lutheran College, have allowed Brisbane Chamber Choir to perform larger works outside the repertoire for chamber choir. This has included the Australian Premiere performance of Britten's The World of the Spirit at the Queensland performing Arts Centre.
Brisbane Chamber Choir has also been fortunate to be able to work with other distinguished Musicians during various concert series in the past. Requiem by Javier Busto for choir and clarinet allowed us to collaborate with Paul Dean (then Principal Clarinet The Queensland Orchestra) for a magnificent Australian Premiere. The close association of Chamber Choir with Dr Ralph Morton also allows us to perform a greater variety of choral music with the foundation of organ accompaniment. The choir has also been accompanied by the likes of Robert Boughen, Alan Moffat and Carson Dron. Our accompanying instrumental ensemble the Brisbane Chamber Players has been led by the likes of Warwick Adeney and Spiros Rantos.
By drawing other renowned players from the Brisbane community, the choir has been able to perform greater choral works including Faure's Requiem, masses by Haydn, and repertoire such as the Chandos anthems of Handel. The choir will continue its association with performers and organisations in order to expand its choral repertoire and experience. |
