Brisbane Chamber Choir draws it members from across the South East Queensland community. Members require a good knowledge of music and a commitment to choral music. Positions are offered via an audition process to assess the suitability of the various voice types for the over all choral sound of the chamber choir.

The yearly program works on a project basis with three to four projects with major concerts organised throughout the year. For each project, a set number of rehearsals are set down with an intensive rehearsal period organised at the start of the season to introduce the repertoire for the season and gain an overall sense of each piece.

It is expected that each member take responsibility for learning and consolidating the music with rehearsals planned for integration of the various parts. Commitment is expected to a majority of rehearsals with compulsory attendance at the initial and dress rehearsals required for each project. Repertoire, on the whole, is independent from project to project, although individual pieces may be reutilised for other commitments mentioned below.

Interspersed are other commitments including various obligations to St John's Cathedral (in the form of church services) and arranged performances for fundraising purposes (eg. weddings, function entertainment etc.). These extra performances are organised through liaison with the choir to arrange suitable dates.

Each member of the choir is also expected to be a financial member of the choir. Membership fees for the year are set at $100 with discounts applicable to students and unemployed members.
